Sharing Agents
Collaborate with team members by sharing your custom agents
Share your user-defined agents with colleagues so they can use your specialized agents without creating their own.
How Sharing Works
| Role | Permissions |
|---|---|
| Owner | Create, edit, delete, manage sharing |
| Shared User | Select and use the agent (read-only) |
Shared users get full use of the agent—including instructions, greetings, and buttons—but cannot modify the agent's definition.
Managing Shares
Sharing an Agent
- Open the agent and go to its Sharing settings
- Search for users by email address
- Click Share to grant access
Revoking Access
- Open the agent's Sharing settings
- Find the user in the shared list
- Click Remove to revoke their access
The user will immediately lose the ability to select that agent.
Finding Shared Agents
Agents shared with you appear in:
| Location | Display |
|---|---|
| Agent selection menus | "Shared with Me" section |
| Agents page | Listed with "(Shared)" indicator |
You can use shared agents exactly like your own—select them, start conversations, use @mentions—but you cannot edit or share them further.
Sharing Best Practices
When to Share
- Team workflows — Ensure consistent procedures across team members
- Onboarding — Give new team members pre-configured agents
- Specialized expertise — Share domain-specific agents with relevant colleagues
Agent Design for Sharing
When creating agents intended for sharing:
| Consideration | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Instructions | Write for your audience, not just yourself |
| Greeting | Explain the agent's purpose clearly |
| Buttons | Include common starting actions |
| Naming | Use descriptive names that convey purpose |
Communication
- Let users know when you share an agent with them
- Explain the agent's intended use case
- Notify shared users before making significant changes
- Warn users before deleting a shared agent
Security Notes
- Sharing is user-to-user (not role or group based)
- Instructions are private—shared users benefit from them but can't read them
- Shared users cannot see your sharing list
- Only owners can modify or delete agents
Limitations
- Cannot share system agents (only user-defined agents)
- Cannot transfer ownership
- Cannot share an agent that was shared with you
- Deleted agents are immediately unavailable to all shared users
