Budget profiles

Every instance has default budget profiles that seed the settings for new user budgets. Instance admins can adjust these once, and every new user gets those defaults automatically.

What a profile controls

• Initial credits — how many credits a new user starts with when their budget is first created.
• Daily usage limit — how many credits a user may burn per day (resets 00:00 UTC).
• Monthly top-up cap — how many credits per calendar month a user may receive as top-ups from the instance pool.
• Auto top-up — optional: when balance drops below threshold, top up back to ceiling from the instance pool.

Profile kinds

Each instance has two per-instance profiles, seeded after the first credit purchase:

• Internal — applied to internal users of the instance.
• Client — applied to client-mode users of the instance.

There is also a single, global Advisor profile (system-managed) that caps free Advisor usage at 50 credits per user per day.

Editing profiles

Go to Billing → Instance budgets, pick the instance you administer, and use Default budget profiles. Changes apply to newly created user budgets. Existing user budgets keep the settings they were created with — adjust them per user under User budgets.

Examples

• Give every new internal user 100 free credits to try things out: set Initial credits = 100.
• Cap heavy users at 200 credits/day on this instance: set Daily usage limit = 200.
• Never let anyone auto-consume more than 1000 credits/month from the pool: set Monthly top-up cap = 1000.
• Keep power users always topped up: enable Auto top-up with threshold 100 / ceiling 500.
